I’ve been waiting to share this post with you for a while now, but as we visit our in-laws and they set aside some of our wedding photos for display, great memories came to me and I figured, why not now. As some of you may already know, my husband Elliott and I got married back in 2010 in Orlando. Right around five years before, we met across from the little mermaid ride.  Me, a tourist from Brazil who barely spoke any English and he, a Disney college program student. Never in a billion years would I guess that next in life would be moving to America, going to school here, and marrying the same boy I met that day. All within a span of five years. But still. Life is sneaky. Now, I’m happy to show what my special day was like, accordingly entitled “A Fairy Tale Type of Love”.

My family and friends flew in from Brazil, his came down from Indiana and Canada.

I wore: ines di santo flora gown, twigs and honey veil and headpiece, christian louboutin shoes, b. poetic silk shoe clip, pearl bracelet, florrie mitton garter, patricia lejeune hair and makeup, liga photography

Wandering rose petals aisle and an outdoor setup were the top 2 visions I had for the ceremony. The crazy Florida weather didn’t allow for the latter, but I was still happy with the outcome. Kudos to my wedding planner Tracy Marini

We paid sick attention to detail. From the Cinderella coach table numbers and place cards, to serving mini burgers and fries at the cocktail (honoring our first date: at a McDonalds…long story)

The brazilian desserts were the hit of the night. Since I’m a very musical gal, I must share the soundtrack with you.

Ceremony: “Maestro”, “Gumption” and “Anything Can Happen” by Hans Zimmer. All from the movie “The Holiday” soundtrack.

First dance: The instrumental version of “Part of Your World” from the Little Mermaid. I swear we’re not Disney freaks but we’re very thankful for Ariel uniting us on that very hot day at Hollywood Studios.

Cake cutting: “Mrs. Robinson” by Casey James. This song just made it that much more real.

As a surprise to my prince charming, then soon to be husband I secretly snuck a poem into the wedding programs written by me for the occasion:

Amor,
you brought me to this foreign world
you sheltered my heart
warm I was in your arms when snow outside felt so cold

if I innocently fear the otherwise safe
you know me, make me feel like nothing can beat me

I write these verses with my modest vocabulary
but does it matter?
if no library
in this planet has enough words
in English or Portuguese to describe my love

life beside you tastes like the best passion fruit
because tropical to me,
dear, is waking up to kisses, pancakes and juice

this world is no longer a stranger
because foreign to me, baby
is having lived without you all those years
And domestic it feels when you whisper in my ears:
Te amo.
