For the last two months, I have been traveling around Brazil. Belo Horizonte, Ipatinga, Curitiba, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro are the of places I visited within that time. It was long enough to rest some, work some, and live some.
There’s something about removing myself from my normal environment for a long period of time and I inevitably begin to re-evaluate things. I use this natural process to make necessary adjustments in both my work and personal life and it’s always worked out well for me.
Elliott and I are going to Brazil. Tomorrow ! Our flight is just a few hours away. Reason why I should be snoozing right now instead of up on the internet but the excitement over going away for almost two months traveling around the country to see family and friends is too grand. As much as I love the snow, we are so ready for change of scenery and hot climates ( it’s summer down south you guys ! ) It’ll be the perfect way to ring in the new year.
As usual, access to the internet will be limited while I’m there. Which is kind of nice ( if it doesn’t drive me crazy ) to experience life without being plugged-in 24/7. I’ve packed a ton of books for the plane and of course, lots of sunscreen in my suitcase. Happy New Year e até logo.

It’s Christmas eve and I’ve been so blessed with family and friends to surround myself with. This year should be extra especial, as I get to have the perfect little Christmas with my US family and later head to Brazil to ring in the new year with my Brazilian family. But what truly made this holiday extra special was a little challenge I’ve decided to participate in this year. I was invited to do an act of kindness.
Elliott and I brainstormed together and came up with an idea to help that would be within our means and at the same time could make a real difference in someone’s life, even if just for a day. I feel a little embarrassed for taking so long to come to the conclusion that such a small gesture could transform my perspective in life as a whole. But I’m glad I eventually got here. It’s so important to sometimes stop what keeps us so busy in everyday life to look around. You’ll find that you’re not alone in any struggle. But you’ll also find that it’s within your power to change your point of view while helping others. That’s what happened to me. Happy Holidays, everyone.

These past few weeks have been a little busy for me. Aside from all the holiday prepping, I’m also getting things organized and ready to leave for Brazil for New Years. My goal starting today is to slow down ( or so I wish ) and fully enjoy the Holiday season before Christmas slips by. Aside from packing summer dresses and swim suits ( it’s the peak of summer down south ) I’m really looking forward to some family time both in the US and South America.
One of my favorite new traditions is our holiday card. Last year, we did a 50’s homemaker inspired theme and received some great compliments from family and friends. I honestly think we set the bar high and it’ll be tough to top it this year, but we’ll try. Perhaps I’ll share the new photo here or instagram and you can tell me which is your favorite. It’s so fun to look back at these holiday cards. We love doing them. I’m also looking forward to our big secret santa extravaganza party with friends in Indianapolis next weekend. But for now, I better get back to my checklist. Any cool holiday traditions to share? I’m so curious.
Ever since the blog turned a year old, it’s been quite a struggle to keep up, and here’s why. At around that same time, I committed to a new career path that I’d always dreamed of pursuing but held back for some strange reason. Matter of fact, as happy as I am with my new acting endeavors, the blog got lost in the midst of it all.
And I’m sure this hasn’t gone unnoticed (thank you for sticking around aside from all the craziness). Lifestyle and behind the scenes slowly began taking over, no more OOTD posts and to be quite honest, I’ve enjoyed the change quite a bit. And although it’s been fun I can’t help but feel a little uncertain. Where do I go from here? Where did the fashion/beauty/interior decorating go? What kind of blog is this now anyways? Right now there’s absolutely no way I can accurately answer that to myself let alone come up with a definition of what Lulu Abroad stands for these days.
That’s when I decided to take a break and re-evaluate everything without the pressure of ” omg, I gotta come up with the next post while I think.” I don’t know what direction the blog will take from here but I’ll promise one thing: NEW! It’ll be Lulu Abroad like you’ve never seen before. Thank you so much for your patience while I figure things out and I’ll see you soon.
