I’ve been working with photographer Francisco Rojas in building our portfolios. So every now and then we get together and put on a photoshoot. This was one of the looks and definitely my favorite. There’s just something about pairing black lace and red lips that never fails.

It’s been a while, hasn’t it? Work has been calling and I have to say, I’m so not a juggler! Instagram has been my outlet for the latest happenings in my career, so if you miss seeing weekly posts here, make sure to get o daily dose of Flavia on there.

So, what are these pictures all about? I’ve been working on a few projects these past few weeks, one of them being a short film called Picture Perfect. These are from a photo shoot session for the film.

I got lucky enough to work once again with a friend photographer, Francisco Rojas. I honestly don’t know what’s like to be photographed by someone  I don’t know anymore and I’m sure the outcome has everything to do with that.

ps: Did you notice my extra-long lashes? For a photo shoot it definitely gave that dramatic effect we were looking for, but would you wear something that drastic for say,  a girls night out?

She does most of the shopping for her online boutique outside of Chicago. Why? In a city where selling vintage is at every corner, all the good stuff might not be easily found here. And surprisingly enough, she’s also shies away from Chicago Estate sales ” I shop during my travels so I’m never shopping in the same place. The most exciting part of this world is the “hunt” for treasures, you never know what you’ll find!”

Sam is always creating the most amazing photoshoots for Rose Vintage (like this winter wonderland inspired “Winter Frost“), most of which she photographs and styles herself. When asked where so much inspiration comes from, she immediately grabs her Kinfolk magazine saying “I swear my life by this.”

When it comes to creating an identity for Rose Vintage and maintaining cohesiveness throughout her Etsy shop, the adorable camper and personal styling services she provides to clients,  Sam does it like a pro. But it wasn’t always like this. “At first I didn’t really know what I was doing.”  Sam proved to be a quick learner.

When we arrived at the post office to ship a ton of new orders, she had all plastic envelopes (that she buys in bulk on eBay) pre labeled (which she told me were printed at home) ready to go. Sam owns a USPS scale to weigh merchandise before printing the labels and because it’s all done through Etsy, each package gets a special tracking number.

And that’s how she does it! Now that you know all of Sam’s vintage selling secrets, stop by once again next week for a peek at her-to-die-for apartment.

Sundays are usually very relaxing around here. This afternoon we hung at Toni Patisserie for a very late brunch.

Everything was divine, as you’d expect from a French café. I had a delicious ham biscuit while husband opted for the pork shoulder/duck fat sandwich. For dessert we shared a lemon bar, napoleon and chocolate chip cookies.

Last year we decided for the first time we’d do Christmas cards. As you can see, we had fun shooting and yes, the pecan pie went straight into the bellies once the clicks were done. And since I had only shared a couple of shots from this 1950′s inspired shoot, I figured, why show more? It’s my favorite anyways!

There were so many beautiful images we captured and little space to share them, so I selected a few of my favorite for what will be the last from mexico. When people ask me how Mexico was I have to say it was nothing short of amazing. You can find so many great deals online these days it’s definitely worth considering. My best pointer? All inclusive is the way to go in Cancun.

Ready for something new? I’ve been wanting to do a video like this for ages and now that I did I’m very excited (and embarrassed at the same time if that’s even possible) to share it with you. “Maybe” by Ingrid Michaelson is one of my favorite tunes and one I enjoy singing too. If you were expecting Christmas carols I’m sorry to disappoint. I did record one, however my external hard drive misbehaved causing me to lose the whole file. And then I almost died (of sadness for having lost the whole  file).  But I guess it wasn’t meant to be. So ladies and gents, here you go (I hope you like it):

From watching the “making of” of movies, you always hear actors complain about “waiting around” until the crew is done with the lighting or other technical adjustments. They are not kidding!

While there’s a bunch of people walking around, moving sets, watching your every move, it’s important to remember you are playing a character and try to ignore the noise. Sometimes you’ll be asked to walk in a room with 2o people staring at you and pretend to be alone! It’s easier said than done.

But overall, I think I got pretty lucky to work with such talented and hard-working people.  I owe a special thanks to CJ and the producer Lauren Schmandt for being so freakishly amazing.

So this year I’m landing on one single theme to show you all! I did most of the shopping online through Etsy and Party City’s website, combining new with old items I already owned.

It’s the the third year in a row I try to think outside the box and re-create my halloween costume before surrendering to pre-packaged options. It’s more fun this way!  Judging from the photos above, can anybody guess what I’ll be for Halloween?

I’ve learned a great deal. Went from not knowing what cache and cookies were to improvising html tricks here and there. A  year ago I didn’t know how much of a difference this blog would make in my life. And now I’m glad I do. So in celebration of Lulu Abroad’s first blogiversary I present you with “A Day in The Life”, a close look at my routine as a personal style blogger.
