Stop in São Paulo

My final destination before I return to Chicago. São Paulo has been very welcoming. No rain (what?), incredible food, fashion week and great times with great friends. I’m lucky like that.

Carioca Sunset

Did you know those who are born in the city of Rio de Janeiro are known as cariocas? I was never a true carioca but for a while I was sure close. Not anymore, though. All the rumors you’ve heard about people there being in perfect tan and shape are absolutely true. They have it all. Beautiful people and a beautiful scenario that composes what is undoubtedly the most beautiful city in the world.  Although I’ve never been, the beauty in Paris was built by men, right?

Real in Rio

Contrary to what many believe, this time of the year in Brazil is not exactly hot. Rio tends to get a lot of rain but luckily this time it was bright and sunny every single day of my stay. Just like the real Rio I know. No boots, no sweaters or umbrellas. Ah!

One of the coolest things I did while in Rio was getting to tour the headquarters of FARM, a very cool Brazilian fashion label. While there, I got to see the entire production line, finally got to meet the kick-ass editing team responsible for Adoro (where I’m a contributing writer), witnessed the design theme brainstorm the next collections and ate an appetizing lasagna at their cozy cafeteria (may I point out yummy chocolate cake for dessert, no?) I was itching to photograph the entire next season but it would be rude since I was specifically (and fairly) asked not to.

This time around I took the afternoon to visit Forte de Copacabana. Another touristy spot in Rio but very worth the hype.  The view to the Copacabana beach is kind of surreal and makes me question how in the world could I leave a city that has something like that to look at and reminds me why I keep coming back to visit every year.

Parque Lage

Parque Lage is a historical must see in Rio de Janeiro, which just happens to be the official host for the next Olympic games. I had to stop by for a stroll this summer while visiting. Build in the 1920’s the old mansion is now home to the School of Visual Arts and also a great spot to get yummy breakfast (at the cozy café overlooking the pool), appreciate multiple art exhibitions, set-up a picnic on the grass, or just sit outside and enjoy a book while looking at a gorgeous view of the Christ statue.

Fashion Rio Part II

Today I wrap up my stay in Rio. It’s great to be back and know it still feels like home. This place deserves the tittle of wonderful city because it is indeed. If you ever get a chance to visit, please don’t pass! Just like saying bye to Rio, it was difficult saying bye to the fashion scene. Hard to think of two other words that go so well together: Fashion Rio. Take a peek at what the last day at the lounges was like.
