Music and I

Music has been part of my life ever since I can remember. It began with me begging my father to sing “A casa” by famous bossa nova composer Vinícius de Moraes over and over again. Those tunes would stick with me and trigger what later became a real appreciation for music. In this video I open up about the impact of music in my childhood, and how this passion evolved into a talent and my dreams.

Silent Film

As I mentioned in the last post,  my husband and I put together a little silent film that tells the story of two parents-to-be who went through a lot but persevered and now are getting ready to welcome a baby boy this coming may. We’re so happy to share their special moment with you.

A Day In The Life

I can’t believe it’s been a year, huh? It seems like just a few weeks ago when my very first post went live on September 19, 2011. If you ask me, I’ve really enjoyed the times I’ve spent creating new content for my own little piece of the internet. Of course there were also times when joy gave way to stress and I wanted to pull my hair out, but nothing crazy.

I’ve learned a great deal. Went from not knowing what cache and cookies were to improvising html tricks here and there. A  year ago I didn’t know how much of a difference this blog would make in my life. And now I’m glad I do. So in celebration of Lulu Abroad’s first blogiversary I present you with “A Day in The Life”, a close look at my routine as a personal style blogger.

And of course, the blog wouldn’t be the same if it wasn’t for each one of you who stop by to check on me. Thank you for reading. Cheers!

A Day At The Zoo

Ever since my husband and I moved to Chicago the Lincoln Park Zoo has become one of our top rated things to do on the weekends. During our last trip, we filmed another video lookbook edited by the sound of “Jar of Hearts”. Push play to watch:

Perfect days like this are what Chicago summers are famous for. If you haven’t visited, you must. Little insider tip: entrance to the zoo is totally free!

For every video my husband and I put together there are always those we have to cut out because something didn’t go right. And now you know what I’m gonna say next: bloopers! Instead of letting it all go to waste  I thought you might enjoy this

Haven’t seen the original retro-beachwear video yet? Here you go!

Retro Beachwear

Today’s outfit is one of my favorites I’ve posted here on the blog (more so than the first video lookbook) I’ve been promising myself a retro inspired halter one-piece swimsuit like the one seen in this video lookbook for ages now.

But adding to the sad truth I’ve put on a few pounds I had no excuse but to cheer myself up with something cute that would flatter my body, give me confidence (even though I’m not in my ideal shape) and enjoy some compliments from other ladies at the beach. Heck yeah who wouldn’t? Anyone interested in purchasing this piece should be warned: sizes run extremely small so make sure you go at least two sizes up when ordering. Stay tuned for the outfit post that will follow!

Closet Conversations

Early this week the lovely Nikia from Chitown Fashionista hosted a brunch to announce the launch of a new video series. Over sweet mimosas and danishes, we all went bananas for the idea. Closet Conversations is an in-depth look at fabulous closets that belong to fabulous people in Chicago.

The first episode features Sally Schwatz, founder of the Randolph Street Market who I had the pleasant opportunity to meet that afternoon. And wow, she’s just like she is in the video! So spontaneous it made me jealous. It’s a monthly hook-up deal (certainty once a day would be too much. right? No!) and I honestly can hardly wait for the next episodes.
